When it comes to tooth loss, we at Mark C. Waring, DDS feel your pain! It’s no fun to lose teeth. Which is why we offer so many great tooth replacement options. Dental implants offer our patients the very best tooth replacement option available today. When you face full tooth loss (edentulousness), it may feel like an insurmountable obstacle, or that you are doomed to rely on dentures – not anymore. In fact, with our Teeth in a Day procedure, we can provide qualifying patients with a full mouth restoration in just a day! Sounds pretty great, doesn’t it?

What is teeth in a day?

Teeth in a Day is a fast-track procedure to get qualifying patients two full arches worth of dental implant-supported, prostheses in just one day. Normally, the process to receive dental implant supported prostheses can be a time consuming one. Teeth in a Day aims to cut down on the placement time to get you the look and function that you lost when you lost your teeth. No more dealing with dentures and denture adhesive, just the great form, and function that only dental implant supported prostheses deliver.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a permanent dental prosthesis that we surgically insert into the bone of your jaw. Dental implants fully restore the form and function of natural teeth and are so good at looking like real teeth that no one will ever know the difference. With dentures, you have to worry about denture adhesive, and slippage while eating some of your favorite foods. With dental implants, you can rest easy knowing that they can easily tackle any food you throw at them, and they don’t have special care instructions like dentures.

Dental implants are made of three separate parts. The implant post, the abutment, and the dental restoration. Below is a description of each.

Dental Implant Post

The implant post is made of titanium to resemble a screw. It is made of titanium because it’s a biocompatible metal that the human body accepts. The base of the implant post is made to be inserted into the jaw bone, whereas the top of the post has a hole to attach the implant abutment. The implant post acts as the root of your natural tooth would, providing a firm base of support for the rest of your prosthesis. The bone in your jaw will heal around the implant post in a process known as osseointegration.

The Implant Abutment

The abutment is made to screw into the top of the implant post. Its purpose is to provide the implant restoration with some surface area, so that we can attach the restoration on top of the abutment.Once screwed into the implant post the abutment is set in place permanently with some long lasting dental adhesive.

Implant Restoration

The implant restoration is the final piece of the implant to be placed. Implant restorations can be single crowns, multi-tooth bridges, or full arch solutions. These restorations are crafted to look and act just like real teeth. Some implant restorations are designed to mimic a small portion of your gums as well.

The All-On-4® Treatment Concept

The All-On-4® Treatment Concept is a revolutionary treatment method that we use to bring your mouth back to its full potential quickly, and easily. All-On-4 allows us to support a full arch tooth replacement system with as few dental implants as possible while giving you the huge benefits that dental implant supported prostheses provide. Best of all, with Teeth in a Day, we can accomplish this goal in a single day!

The success of this process depends on you following the post-operation instructions very carefully. Because the implants and the restorations are placed on the same day, there is the potential for you to overload the implants and ruin the osseointegration process. We make this abundantly clear and give you plenty of dietary options to follow after the operation has been completed.

Tooth Loss Can be Devastating

Tooth loss can be a real bummer. We always recommend replacing teeth as they are lost to avoid complications like damage to existing teeth and further tooth loss. Teeth depend on their neighbors for support, so when one is lost, the neighboring teeth will tend to drift into the void left behind. This can result in all sorts of oral health maladies. As mentioned above, dental implants can be used to permanently replace single teeth, several consecutive missing teeth, and full arch solutions.

The Teeth In A Day Procedure

We begin the Teeth in a Day procedure by taking some records on the current condition of your mouth. The goal is to determine if you are a candidate for the procedure. We will diagnose you with a series of CT scans that we will use to create a digital, 3D image of your mouth and jawbone so that we can determine how much bone structure you have left in your jaw.

We will use these images to build a treatment plan designed specifically for you. In the treatment plan, we will outline the depths and angles that we expect to place the implant posts.

We will then perform the implant placement surgery according to out treatment plan. This can include extracting existing teeth and bone shaping/grafting. Once the placement surgery is completed, we will provide you with some temporary acrylic teeth to give you a look and feel or new teeth. You will be given extensive instructions on what to eat and how to treat your new teeth to ensure their long-term success.

The healing process can take 6-8 weeks in some cases, longer in others. Healing is patient dependent and relies on your cooperation with post-op instructions for its success.

The last step is returning to our office to have the temporary restorations removed and the permanent ones placed.
